Today’s amazing journey was an unforgettable experience for our SMLS community. We woke up bright and early, ready to go zip-lining, which was one of the activities that we were most thrilled about. After having a delicious breakfast with fruits, eggs, pancakes, toast and much more, we soon loaded our bags onto the bus and headed to zip-lining.
After sitting on a bus for 45 minutes, we eventually arrived at the zip-lining. As we lined up one by one to put on our harnesses and helmets, the air was filled with nervous chatter, excitement and a mix of both. While we each tried the practice zip line, many of us were afraid, yet we couldn’t wait to see the beautiful view while on the line. Zip-lining was something we had been excited for since we found out the itinerary. However, when we got there, we realized that the zip line was way bigger than we had originally thought. Mixed feelings occurred while waiting in line as we each were attached to the rope. We were all mostly very excited but also a bit nervous because most of us had never been on a zip line that big. As soon as we went on the first ride, we realized there was no need to be worried, so the rest of the lines were so much more fun.
Through our zip line adventure, some of us still didn’t enjoy it as much as others, but we got through it and faced our fears. That’s also what school trips are all about – expanding your comfort zone and feeling uncomfortable, but not too much that it’s not fun.
After that, we went to have a delicious lunch overlooking the lake. After lunch, we got back on the bus and headed back to Liberia. When we arrived, after our 3 hour bus ride, we hung out in our rooms before dinner. Even though plans changed and we ended up going to a different restaurant than planned, it was still good and we got to have ice cream after. Overall, we think it was a good day full of adventure, stepping out of your comfort zone, and flexibility.
