From Reef to Reflection: Exploring Marine Life and Global Conversations in the Bahamas

We are looking forward to welcoming students from St. Mildred’s-Lightbourn School to the Bahamas tomorrow. The week ahead will be action-packed, with a full slate of interesting, educational and thought-provoking experiences.

Students will be snorkelling amongst coral reefs (natural and person-made) while identifying fish species, coral and human environmental impacts. We will also be discussing the causes of coral destruction and learning about coral reef rehabilitation programs, as well as what humans can do to mitigate the degradation process.

We have a great plan in place to meet many incredible people along the way who will help us discover more about marine ecosystems and our dependence on that mysterious environment, the culture of the Bahamas, and its historical importance.

We can’t wait for the week to get started! Stay tuned for daily posts, photos and some of the learning we encounter while in Grand Bahama.
