We have had the privilege of working with Greenwood College for many years, but this was the first winter that the Grade 7 and 11 classes came together at the same site. This inaugural program brought a mix of winter fun and mentorship opportunities. The grade 7s brought unmatched energy, which focused on embracing the winter environment, snowshoeing, enjoying the toboggan hill and learning how to navigate cross-country skis. Grade 11 focused on how they want to show up in the world from a personal leadership lens. They took part in a workshop focused on recognizing their thinking traps, with the hope of managing their emotions. They also participated in a “Leadership in Action” block where they stepped into the grade 7 rotations to support their younger peers and their ALIVE instructors. Our time together wrapped up with a site-wide “Winter Eco-Challenge.” A relay, by House Teams, focused on teamwork, joy and perseverance. Despite the “Snow Day” start, we had an awesome week together in the sun and snow. Looking forward to seeing you all in the fall!
