Rain on Water

Kayaking across Arenal Lake in the pouring rain was one of the most unforgettable experiences of our trip to Costa Rica. The rain made the adventure even more exciting and wet as we paddled through the water, surrounded by the deep rainforest that stretched along the shoreline. In the distance, we admired a sleeping volcano that hid behind the thick clouds, creating a breathtaking and unforgettable view. Despite being completely soaked, the beauty of the landscape made every moment worth it. The combination of the rainforest, the misty volcano, and the sound and sight of the raindrops falling onto the water made it feel like we weren’t just exploring Costa Rica, but learning and understanding how the ecosystem connects back to our daily lives and benefits us.

After the kayaking, we were treated to fresh watermelon and pineapple, which was the perfect way to end this incredible experience. Following this, we went to a local junior school and watched younger students perform a super fun dance show to help support their education and school. After, we talked and connected with them by playing a local broom game that the Costa Ricans would dance to in their culture. We then played some rounds of rock-paper-scissors with them. To wrap up the day, we headed into the local town of La Fortuna, where we spent an hour exploring and shopping. We also finally had a good view of the volcano. A full day!
