Living Learning: Bringing Biology to Life at the Children’s Eternal Rainforest in Costa Rica

The wait is over—we are heading to Costa Rica with students and teachers from the Montessori Academy of London! This is an incredible opportunity to step into one of the most biodiverse places on Earth and engage with science-based learning in their rainforest classroom.

We will be spending time at the Pocosol Research Station in the Children’s Eternal Rainforest, engaging with and learning about a place that many of us have only seen in documentaries. In preparing for this trip, I read that the rainforest is the kind of environment that makes you feel small in the best possible way—like you are part of something vast, complex, and alive. What makes this trip even more meaningful is our focus on understanding biodiversity, human impact, and the importance of protecting these ecosystems. We will not just be observing nature; we will be studying it with a local biologist, asking questions, and learning how our actions back home connect to what is happening in the rainforest.

We are excited for the students to share in the power of learning in our new classroom for the week, especially in a place where every plant and animal has a story to tell. Stay tuned for daily posts, photos, and some of the learning we encounter while in Costa Rica!
