A Welcome Rain

On the first day in Costa Rica, we had to arrive way too early at the airport. We were all very tired and a bit grumpy, but as soon as we all got together, we felt so much more awake, like it was 2 pm on a Friday. The plane ride was fun and we were a bit too loud, according to some teachers.

When we arrived, the wave of heat hit all of us hard. As soon as we went to a space without air conditioning, we were all sweating like crazy! We were restless to get to the beach as we arrived after having a very hearty lunch. The beach was one of the most unforgettable moments of our lives. Even though we could only go ankle deep, we had a great time taking photos, stretching our legs, and talking to our friends. Then the rain started. It was heavy and a little unexpected, but it turned out to be something absolutely unforgettable. We were all a bit irritated at first, but as we ran, jumped, and danced in the rain, it seemed better than when the beach was dry. Taking too many photos and just smiling and laughing with pure joy under the harsh rain was something too amazing to be expressed by words. Soon after, we ate delicious food, while the rain smashed against the roof. As we finished dinner, did a debrief and entered the bus, we were wet, cold and soggy, yet the rain couldn’t wash off the smiles that never left our faces. A great start!
