Fansipan & Calligraphy

Hi everyone,

Today, we called an audible and went to the summit of Fansipan because the weather was clear. And was that ever a great call. The summit sits at 3147m, and it would have been a shame to reach it and be surrounded by fog.

Gabriel was in charge of today’s post, and his account follows below:

Today we took a cable car through Hoang Lien National Park to reach Fansipan, the tallest mountain in Indochina. From the station we climbed many steps to the top. On the way, we passed a large gate called Thanh Van Dac Lo, saw the temple Bich Thien Tu, and visited Kim Son Bao Thang Tu, the highest pagoda in Vietnam.

Later, we visited a school where we had a calligraphy class and learned about the Red Dao people. We met the teacher, Sieu, who told us the school has been open since 2003. It was interesting to learn about their culture and see how the students practice calligraphy.

After that, we went to Ta Phin village, where we met the Red Dao people. We walked around the village and learned a little more about their daily life. At the end of the day, we went back to the hotel for dinner and relaxed after a long day.
