Introducing ALIVE's New Global Learning Initiative

It's time for a new adventure.

After many nudges over the years, we are excited to be expanding our platform for progress, inner growth, and the hope for a changed future through offering more global experiences. As with all ALIVE programs, everything we do will be thoughtful, and rooted in a collaborative approach. Creating educational experiences that encourage self-reflection by challenging personal beliefs about oneself, others, and society is a bold and engaged endeavour. When executed effectively, it can be incredibly inspiring – changing not only our perspective, but how we define ourselves. Our goal is to be the people you trust in places you don’t know. We’re starting slowly, staying small, listening attentively, and embracing the imperfections needed to foster honest relationships in our pursuit to create authentic and intentional experiences.

Our Global Engagement Perspective

At our core, we are passionate about creating experiences that are second to none. We are not in the business of offering trips to all corners of the planet; rather, we focus on a few specific locations that we believe offer the learning landscapes aligned with our goals and values. Our approach is grounded in ongoing reflection of how we see ourselves and how we want the world to be in the future.

Intentional Destinations

Our travel destinations are carefully selected with purpose and educative goals. We focus on places where we can foster strong, long-term relationships with locals through open and honest dialogue. We choose communities, natural spaces, and attractions that allow us to broaden our worldview and reflect on ways to make a meaningful contribution to our collective planet.

Collaborative

Our program design is guided by our collaborative relationships with local partners. We work with professionals who are transparent about the impact of our work in their communities. We also tailor our programs to meet each specific group at their current stage of exploration in the global community.

Embracing Complexity to Help Each Participant Thrive

We don't back down from tough challenges, but rather welcome them with an understanding that they offer valuable wisdom gained. We encourage participants to find delight in navigating the layers of a rapidly changing world, even when it's not perfect or easy. Travel experiences should engage a person for a lifetime.

Facilitators

Our facilitators are carefully selected, based on their life experiences, intuition, risk mindset, and leadership. They excel at identifying and capitalizing on teachable moments, even in unexpected situations. Regardless of your age, the lessons learned through travel have deep and formative impacts on our lives - our facilitators are there to help make sure we know how to see and frame that potential.

We are excited to announce Kristin Read as the newest member of the ALIVE full-time team starting in August 2024. Kristin will be engaged in designing, coordinating, and implementing our mission to help schools engage their students in intentional global experiences.
